The Kucharek Brothers have been burning their way to the top of the heap in the sculpting world for some time now.When it comes to sculpting Super Heroes it doesn't get any better than these guys...
The sheer amount of stellar work they do is nothing short of incredible.
Many of you might have seen their work or own a piece or two.
Sculpt after sculpt the Kucharek's have shown their ability to capture the comic characters we all love in sculptural form like no other.When it comes to talent...these guys are a powerhouse.
In our first artist spotlight ,I wanted to cover the Kucharek Brothers ,little is known about the very private duo.Having read only a few interviews with them in the Wizard and Toyfare magazines. They do very few interviews, choosing to let their work to speak for itself..

I first noticed the statue work they did for Dynamic Forces and really started looking at their work when I came across an article in the Wizard Magazine about upcoming talent to watch out for.
Wizard Magazine was not fooling when they picked these guys as a talent to watch. The only sculptors chosen in a list of the Comic book industries top upcoming talent .The list consisting of Creators,pencilers and writers,no other sculptors or anyone from the Toy or collectibles Industry was chosen. That's an honor in and of itself in my humble opinion ,to be the only talent chosen from an entire Industry,WOW....
Another sign of their success is their influence can be seen everywhere, everything from books to video games , comic covers ,toys, tv and dvds.
As for toys, elements the brothers uniquely added/created details for thier Hulkbuster armor sculpt can be seen soon after on Hasbro's 3 3/4 HB figure and Iron Monger 6 inch and 3 3/4 (comic version ) figures .Those same elements are used again on Diamond Selects HB minimate as well.
Check out the Hulkbuster from the Marvel Heroes video game the same K Bros elements are used again.
Their sculpts can be seen on the Iron Man blue ray used as art for a chapter in the extra features section and to be seen again in a gallery on the Fantastic Four 1.5 edition dvd.

I have seen their work on G4 ,ABC, the Castle tv show and in the background on 60 minutes.Not to mention It's a well know fact Marvel used pictures of their Hulkbuster sculpt for reference for a Iron man comic cover....and their influence can be seen in a lot of comic book art these days.....
I even recently came across a pic of one of their Spider man sculpts in a history of Spider man book.
These guys are very prolific indeed,not mention they have several journalism awards and created artwork for one of the most famous music festivals known to mankind.
These guys handle with ease some of the most eclectic and diverse looking characters. Check out the Hydro Man, Watcher or the Sauron busts . Have you seen their Groot ,Eternity or Arnim Zola sculpts ???And the list goes on...
The Kucharek Brother's work is typically some if not the most complicated sculpts put out by Bowen Designs.
Just look at the detail of their Bishop statue or the the retro Cable statue ( that piece originally sold -out in less than an hour folks,even with a hefty retail price and one just sold on ebay for
$ 1,999.99 ) , have you seen their Modok or Mojo statues?...nuff said!

Next up! The Kucharek Brothers Cable on Sentinel head statue.
This is the statue that kicked off the current trend of putting characters on sentinel heads.From companies like Koto to model kit companies to private commissions by work for hire sculptors this concept has become very popular indeed . At the time this hit the market nobody was producing single characters on Sentinel bases currently or in recent history ,that changed right after this hit the market....Many companies and sculptors even mimic the type of slashes and look of the battle damaged details as seen in the Kucharek's sculpt,it's undeniable.
The sculpt was such a success BD added more statues with Sentinel bases to their statue line. It should be noted this statue was designed by the Kucharek Brothers.

The Kucharek Brothers are also responsible for pitching the Sentinel Cable statue concept to BD for production.

It also should be noted ,these guys are some of the first big name sculptors to make the jump to digital sculpting.One has to wonder when they found the time to do so with the amount of quality traditional sculpts they produce.
Bowen has recently previewed two digital sculpts of Marvel's Nighthawk and a Stingray sculpt by the brothers that are outstanding.And lets not forget their popular Spider Man digitally sculpted statues.
I have noticed their work can typically be seen ranking well on the Diamond Distributors monthly top product sales lists.
Not to mention taking the highest charting Bowen Designs listing for their Action Deadpool statue on Diamond's 2013 yearly sales list of the top 100 items for the whole year .Only two Bowen Designs items made the list with the next Bowen product on the listing coming in 50 slots down on the list behind their Deadpool sculpt.Not to shabby.
I would also like to add they are responsible for creating many best sellers for Bowen over the years.

Their work has pushed the boundaries of super hero statue design and is copied by many sculptors, pro sculptors included,kit companys and statue producers .
The Kuchareks have been innovators at BD and in the industry .Take a look at their early work at BD ,you just did not see busts design like Watcher ,Sandman, Battle armor Thor and Vulture until they took bust design to a new level.

I recently had the opportunity to correspond with Dennis of the Kucharek Brothers.I was hoping for an interview unfortunately the Brothers are extremely busy with their sculpting projects and some cool projects outside the collectible statue world to do a interview right now.
I have been sworn to secrecy, so I will not disclose what awesome projects we discussed. However the door has been opened for an interview down the road.

As a long time collector of comic book statues ,having a collection of several hundred statues,statue prototypes and unique one off pieces.I have noticed the Kucharek's creative
designs,sculptural quality and hard work place them at the top of the very best in their industry and we eagerly look to see what these guys have to offer in the years to come.
We here at Marvel Statues are big time Kucharek Brothers fans and will be reviewing their work from time to time.As well maybe interviewing the guys down the road
